Bauhaus Luftfahrt e.V.

Bauhaus Luftfahrt (BHL) is a non-profit research association founded in 2005 by EADS, Liebherr-Aerospace and MTU Aero Engines together with the Free State of Bavaria. The industrial partners committee was expanded in 2012 to include IABG. BHL is an interdisciplinary aerospace research institute with a main focus on fundamental physics, technology, economy, ecology and informatics. Amongst others, in-house expertise covers the field of aircraft design. Due to close cooperation with national and international academia, research institutes and industry partners, BHL has successfully contributed to different EC-projects like SWAFEA, CREATE, NEWAC, DREAM, LEMCOTEC, E-BREAK and DisPURSAL.

Role in the project

BHL will lead Task 1.3.3 and will work with MTU for the content. BHL will cover advanced propulsion system conceptual design and aircraft integration aspects and the assessment of novel cycle concepts and the fundamentals of power plant hybridization.
