Oldest and largest Spanish technical university UPM's Schools cover most of engineering disciplines with a strong commitment to R&D and Innovation. Presence of UPM in the international R&D arena is ensured by consistent participation in EU programmes. In FP7, UPM has taken part in 220 R&D projects with a funding from the EC of more than 60 M€. Research within ENOVAL will be carried out in the Aerospace Propulsion Section, School of Aerospace Engineering which has been involved in Aerospace Propulsion and Power Generation related programs, and specifically in European Framework Programs (CRYOPLANE, VITAL, LEMCOTEC)
UPM will lead Task 1.3.5 "Variable Pitch Fan and LPT NGV cycles" jointed to ITP. Estimate and survey, on typical long range application, possible solutions and capabilities of variable geometries on fan, LPT NGV and fan nozzle. Select the most promising and feasible engine architecture. Compare results with the reference propulsor and discuss possible operating risks.
