The Universität der Bundeswehr München (UniBwM) comprises 7 faculties with 3000 students, 170 professors and about 364 academic staff. The Institute of Jet Propulsion (ISA) operates a jet engine ground test facility, a highspeed cascade wind tunnel as well as a model wind tunnel and jet engine. A CFD group applies latest state-of-the-art CFD codes to complete the research activities. The ISA is well established and participates in numerous national and international research programs in cooperation with different partners and institutions.
In close collaboration with MTU as industrial partner UniBwM will perform high-speed cascade testing within WP4.5 in its unique test facility. In the high-speed cascade wind tunnel operated by UniBwM it is possible to test cascades with independent variation of Reynolds and Mach number at engine relevant levels. Linear cascades comprising state-of-the-art Turbine Exit Case (TEC) designs will be equipped with active flow control devices to control boundary layers on the blades in order to minimize losses at high aerodynamic loads.
