Avio Aero is a GE Aviation business working on the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for the civil and military aeronautics sector. Avio Aero is the centre of excellence for the entire General Electric group in the field of mechanical transmissions and low pressure turbines. Italy is home to the main headquarters and important plants in Turin, Pomigliano d’Arco (Naples) and Brindisi. Worldwide it employees 4700 people (about 4000 in Italy) and has production plants in Poland, Brazil and China. Role in the project


Oil system design and integration, engine transmission system integration, evaluation of impacts and contribution to specification at engine level (WP1.1). Leader on developing methodologies for accurate windage losses prediction and assessing the whole system dynamic behavior (WP 4.2). Development and testing of innovative LPT front stages (by means of aggressive inter-duct, robust design of high efficiency airfoils, low-length LPT module, SAS optimal design) and acoustic liners in order to obtain more efficient and low noise engines (WP 4.4).
